3: English biscuit tin with two scenes of a Charles Dickens story.
The scene on the right is from Scrooge and this panel is signed,“CHATER”.
On the side of the lid is the text “SCENES FROM CHARLES DICKENS” in a yellow panel,
while on the side of the tin are the characters David Copperfield, Dora Spenlow,
Mr. Pecksniff, Mr. Bumble, Little Nell, Oliver Swift, Mr. Micawber and Barnaby Rudge.
The base is impressed “CARR &CO. LTD  BISCUIT MANUFACTURERS CARLISLE ENGLAND”,
photo from the inside because of the label, which I dont want to remove,
someone has glued to the base.
The label reads "DICKENS TIN - EMBLEM ASSORTED" and below the picture
"CARR & CO., LTD. CARLISLE, ENGLAND" and on the brown label "13ozs. 2drms. K 0371";

dimensions: about 28 x 15,5 x 5cm high.

12: Dutch biscuit tin with the same design as no. 13 below,
but smaller and another manufacturer's name;
they both have the same designs at the sides;
furthermore this one has four small metal feet and a standard lock in front.

13: Dutch biscuit tin with the same design as no. 12 above, but larger and different manufacturer,
possibly the same firm but that the owner deceased;
also has the same designs at the sides;
this one has a handle on the lid and a locking device at the front and no feet.

14: Dutch biscuit tin with a very attractive Christmas scene, Santa entering the room and bringing presents; front and back same design but the sides each with a different design;
has a handle on the lid and a locking device at the front, the base without feet.

38: Dutch biscuit tin with similar attractive Christmas scenes as the previous tin, Santa entering the room and bringing presents; front and back same design, and both sides with the same church picture ;
has a handle on the lid and a locking device at the front, the base without feet.

The mark "WED. J. BEKKERS & ZOON DORDRECHT (Holland)" is no longer visible due to the condition of the gold, but I have seen the same tin clearly marked

25: German tin, not very old, with attractive decoration of people and children in winter landscapes,
also with a different design on eachside;

impressed mark on the base the Schmidt logo with "E. Otto Schmidt Lebkuchen und Honig 8500 Nurnberg"

26: Belgian tin decorated with Santa and his sack, filled with presents, on his way with
his lantern and a staff, normally being St. Nicolas's attribute,
on the side pine branch with pine cone decoration;


marked on the base with impressed "Lonka" logo and "MADE IN BELGIUM";

dimensions: dia 26,5cm and 12cm high


27: German tin with text "Gruss aus Nürnberg" and decorated with flowers and butterflies; on the sides two buildings and a dragonslayer in a star, probably Haeberlein's logo or Nürenberg motiv; June 5, 1920 the firms Haeberlein and Metzger fusioned, so this tin is post-1920;

marked:

no other markings;
on each side a famous Nürnberg city view in a panel surrounded by holly garlands;

Dates pre-1965 when the firm was taken over by Weiss Lebkuchen.

31: tin, decorated with Santa and presents, for Danish cookies by the firm "DANIBISK",
founded in 1975 in Caracas, Venezuela;

32: Large old German tin from "Heinrich Haeberlein Nurnberg Lebkuchen u. Chokoladen-Fabrik" and "Königl. Bayer.u.K.uK.Oester Hofliferant."

Pre-1920:when the two companies H. Haeberlein and FG Metzger joined the "United Nuremberg gingerbread and chocolate factory Haeberlein-Metzger AG" together.

Dimensions: 39,5cm x 27,5cm and ca 14cm high

 

33: Small round tin with Santa with his sack, and sleigh with reindeer on a rooftop,
stepping into a chimney.
The sides decorated with holly with red berries.

Unmarked.

Dimensions: dia ca 13 cm.

34: Rectangular tin with Santa, Saint Nicolas and children
in an open house scene.
The box is unmarked but inside is a piece of a gold wrapping with part text,
which could read "AMANDEL-MILCH-NUSS".

Dimensions: ca 18 x 12,50 and 9cm highest point.

35: large lithographed cookie tin in the form of the nativity stable ; it opens at the top, with one side of the roof with a hinge and the other fixed at the side. It has been dated being of the 1920s and origin Germany. There are no marks.
Dimensions: 29cm wide x 18,5cm deep and 26cm high.

36 and 37: Two tins in the model of an air balloon. They are not Christmas designs, but when I saw them I liked them so much that I had to have them. At first I thought they were tea containers, but afterwards I saw a similar tin with a label on the base, describing it as "WALKER'S OLD ENGLISH ROYAL TOFFEES....BEST BEFORE: AUG 1997". and "PACKED ESPECIALLY FOR NORM THOMSON". Of course it is also possible that the tins were manufactured by a company specialised in metal packings and available for all companies.

35: Tin in the form of an air balloon and decorated with Walt Disney figures. The tin is ca 17cm high. It is unsigned.

36: Another air balloon tin, but now decorated with people and children in 19th century clothing in the air balloon basket. The tin is ca 17cm high. It is marked on the base "CONTAINER MADE IN ENGLAND". I have also seen them with an unmarked base.

Houses & Buildings

Description on the box: “The Country Church with candle light and chime bells. A miniature model of a typical Country Church with glowing Candlelight that causes the church bell in the steeple to chime softly. Complete with extra candle and church bell. A charming holiday decoration”
The chime works when a candle is placed inside the tower. On the side of the box is marked “A Genuine Swedish Product”.
The window panes are red plastic or mica, glued on the inside. It completely disassembles.
