Tree Stands

Here a variation of mostly cast iron tree stands. Just bought them as they came along, not looking for them especially. There are many other models, the cast iron tree stands have survived and therefore not being very rare. Two early ones are those with the tree/water basin modelled as a tree trunk and the legs as gnarled branches. Also tree stands with a music box, which of course would have been more expensive. Not shown here are those with one or three Santas, gnomes, birds, and are being reproduced at present. The most common ones consist of a base, usually round or rectangular, with an iron container fixed with bolt & nut on top to hold the tree. The container could be filled with water. Many are in the Art Deco or Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style. Some are marked. They are either lacquered in different tones of green, bronzed, with a metallic shimmer finish, with details in a different color. Plastic tree stands you will find under "Plastic".
